People

I am often asked “Aren’t you afraid of all those dangerous animals and things out in the desert?”  My reply is always “Never mind the animals, it’s the people I look out for!”

  • Always be cautious of entering an area if you hear weapons fire of any kind, especially automatic weapons fire.  While there are a few people who are authorized to handle automatic weapons, most are not, and it is a felony to do so. Go to a safe area and alert authorities.
  • Avoid approaching unknown persons (or letting them approach you) if you are within 40 miles of the Mexican border. Drug and illegal alien runners are common in these areas.
  • Be friendly and courteous, but use common sense when talking to strangers. For example, you can talk about where you have been, but you shouldn’t talk about where you’re going.
