First Aid

Supplies:  Always carry a first aid kit.  It should contain the basics, like bandages, antibiotic ointment and aspirin, but should also contain special items for the desert like tweezers, for pulling out cactus spines.  See Staging  for a free list of what should be in your first aid kit!

Knowledge:

·        Everyone 12 years or older should know how to give Cardio-pulmonary resucitation, or CPR.

·        Everyone should become familiar with basic first aid techniques.  There are countless books and websites on the subject.

·        One of the most important first aid facts to know in the desert is that you NEVER give a hypothermia or shock victim liquids.  Other first aid techniques are specific to the desert, such as snakebite and scorpion sting treatments.
